Arsene Wenger has hinted that Jack Wilshere will feature for Arsenal against Koln in the Europa League.
The Gunners face the Bundesliga side in their first game in Europe’s secondary competition since losing the 2000 UEFA Cup final to Galatasaray.
The Frenchman offered some team news during Wednesday’s press conference, confirming that midfielder Francis Coquelin will be out for a number of weeks.
“On the injury front, we have no big problems. Ozil and Ramsey are rested.
“But overall it is not too bad. Coquelin is out for three weeks.”
Wilshere is expected to start against Koln with up to seven first-team players rested.
“In training he is getting stronger, that’s what we want,” Wenger said of the midfielder. “He was injured so was a bit behind, but now he is getting better. Every game is an opportunity for him.
“Will he start? I give out my team tomorrow.”
On Giroud, who is one goal away from scoring 100 for Arsenal, the manager added: “I don’t want him to feel uneasy. His contribution has been huge, he’s had a great evolution here.
“He has shown a loyal spirit and has high respect from everybody at the club and the fans.”
