Motilola Akinlami, a Nollywood actress, has explained why she declared her divorce from her husband.
Biola Bayo recalled how a blogger threatened to expose her in an interview. She claimed that the blogger had messaged her, accusing her of living a lie and threatening to reveal that she was unmarried. Not one to be easily blackmailed, Motilola announced her divorce before the blogger did.
As she pointed out that no woman, with the exception of those who are clinically insãne, enters a marriage with the goal of leaving, the mother of two further criticized those who shame women over their failed marriage.
“Why did I announce my divorce? There was a blog at that time, the blogger messaged me and said you live in disguise, and I will expose it. I know that you have left your marriage. So, I was like, you want to blackmail me at this point? When I have got nothing else to lose, I will post it.
There is one guy that is deceiving you, there is one man somewhere. I don’t know, I think I need to ask you people, do people think people go into marriages hoping to leave? I think they think there is a a new couple of women out there who go into marriage with the intention of leaving. So make it make sense.
