The Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, has commenced exams for its college students regardless of the continued strike by the Tutorial Workers Union of Universities, ASUU.
The school on Monday commenced its 2017/2018 second semester exams.
Recall that ASUU had, on November four 2018, launched into industrial motion. Since then, tutorial actions have been suspended in numerous universities.
Nevertheless, some departments in OAU are carrying on with teachers as they’ve lecturers who are usually not members of the Tutorial Workers Union of Universities. The lecturers mentioned they’re members of the Congress Of Nigeria University Teachers, CONUA, including that the commercial motion was not binding on them.
College students of English and Literary Research division have been receiving lectures and sat for exams on Monday. The university’s public relations officer, Abiodun Olarenwaju informed TheCable that the school calendar wouldn’t be prolonged.
“There’s nothing that means we’re going to lengthen any calendar. Don’t allow us to be speculative, after we get to the bridge we are going to cross it.
“The senate of the university is in command of the tutorial actions, in the event that they discover it to increase, they may and if not, there’s nothing anyone can do about it. Let’s preserve our fingers crossed and don’t allow us to be speculative
“Whether or not they will lengthen it or not has not stopped the scholars from studying, they need to learn.”
