Peter Rufai, the former first-choice goalie for the Super Eagles, has passed away.
Rufai fought a protracted illness before passing away on Thursday. His age was sixty-one years.
Many people considered Dodomayana, as he is affectionately known, to be among Nigeria’s finest goalkeepers.
Rufai played in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain during his 20-year playing career.
In addition, he played for Nigeria in two World Cups and numerous Africa Cup of Nations competitions.
The football community is in mourning for Liverpool forward Diogo Jota on the day of Rufai’s passing.
