BREAKING: Appeal Court Affirms Oluyede As PDP Candidate For Ekiti Governorship Election
The Court of Appeal (Nigeria) has affirmed Wole Oluyede as the valid governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State.
The appellate court delivered the ruling on Thursday, overturning an earlier judgment by the Federal High Court that had nullified the PDP governorship primary election which produced Oluyede as the party’s candidate.
According to the court, the primary election conducted by the PDP complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s internal guidelines.
The decision effectively settles the legal dispute surrounding the PDP governorship ticket in Ekiti State and confirms Oluyede as the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming gubernatorial poll.
The case had generated controversy within the party as rival factions battled in court over the legitimacy of the primary election.
However, with the Court of Appeal’s ruling, political observers believe the PDP can now focus fully on its campaign strategy ahead of the governorship election.
The judgment has also sparked reactions among party supporters and political stakeholders in Ekiti, with many calling for unity within the party to strengthen its chances at the polls.
The Ekiti governorship election is expected to attract strong competition among major political parties as they battle for control of the state’s top political office.
